We have very recently experienced a large theft of vases from the cemetery and are working with the police in an effort to recover vases. We will work with the police and our insurance company, and we hope the stolen vases can be tracked down or replaced as soon as possible. We have a quiet cemetery tucked away from the main street, and we occasionally experience some theft of items left on graves, but we have never experienced anything of this magnitude. We walked the entire cemetery and have a list of the graves affected. We will now begin reaching out to families so they know that their loved one's grave has been affected. We believe only bronze vases have been taken. We will update our Facebook page and website as we find out more details. We do not yet have a timeline on how everything will move forward. Families who are concerned and have not yet heard from us are free to reach out to us at (503) 640-2277 to have us check to see if their loved one's grave has been affected. Desecration of a grave is a serious crime, and we hope that metal recyclers are being vigilant to help solve this case and deter any future crimes of this sort. We are grateful to the Hillsboro Police for their help and will continue to work with them through this process. We are sad that anyone would be desperate enough to commit such a crime and sad for the families touched by this theft.
