Nick Valera

Nick G Valera was 78 years old. He was born in Portland, Oregon. He passed away in Tualatin, Oregon on August 3, 2026. Nick graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1965 and was a gymnast on the varsity team. Then he joined the army and received a Purple Heart while serving in the Vietnam War. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, tennis, golfing and was an excellent bowler. He worked for the United States Postal Service nearly 30 years before retiring.

Nick was preceded in death by his mother Laura Arquette Dockter, Jo Valera (father), Manuel Valera (brother), Buddy Valera (brother), Lanni Valera Small (sister) and Kelly Alioth (daughter). He is survived by his sister Lola Valera Naff.

Nick leaves behind his daughter Nichole Valera Hildebrandt, son-in-law Greg Hildebrandt and granddaughters Lauren and Sydney Hildebrandt.

Although he was a quiet man, he always said he loved us after a phone call or visit. We will miss him dearly.

A memorial will be held for family on October 9th, 2026. The Army military honors are scheduled at the Willamette National Cemetery at 2:10pm.
