Leslie Susan Saballus

It is with great sadness we mourn the death of Leslie Susan Saballus, 61, who passed away on January 9th, 2026, of pancreatic cancer, at home with her family beside her.

Leslie was born at Tuality Community Hospital where she worked as an RN for 36 years. She had not yet retired when she became ill. Leslie attended West Union Grade school, Poynter Jr High, Hilhi, and graduated from Glencoe High School in 1982. She attended Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing where she earned her bachelors' degree in 1988. She was active in her church where she was baptized as an infant and confirmed in 1978.

Leslie had many hobbies including quilting, sewing, and cruising to many countries. She maintained the family farm since her father's death in 2008. She loved to plan frequent family gatherings, including yearly camping reunions with extended family.

Leslie is survived by her mother, Dorothy E. Loos Saballus, and two sisters, Diane K Petsche, and Debra A Solders. She was the best Auntie to 7 nephews, 1 niece, 9 great-nephews, and 5 great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul W. Saballus, and both brothers-in-law, Marc Petsche and Jeffrey Solders.

Viewing for Leslie will be January 19th from 5-7 PM at Fir Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at Zion Lutheran Church, Hillsboro January 20th at 11 AM, followed by a luncheon and then a graveside ceremony at 2 PM, at Fir Lawn Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
