Karon Weitzel was born May 24, 1952 in Long Beach, CA to Vernon (“Mac”) and Helen McKinney. Karon entered into the joy of heaven on November 11, 2022 after a brave fight with cancer for many years.
Karon was a beloved mom, sister, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, cousin and friend. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle and Tami; grandchildren Brittney, Michael, Tylor and Kimberly; great-grandchildren Nikko, Amaya, Evangeline and Benjamin, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, George, Rick and Vern.
Karon’s work-life spanned 25-years as a Surface Mount Inspector for Tektronix Industries.
Karon’s life was full as she served in the church as a Salvation Army soldier with Tualatin Valley Citadel for many years. She supported youth and women’s ministries as well as visiting residents of nursing homes. She was also the Hospitality Specialist at the church and enjoyed cooking meals through the years at the church for the congregation.
Karon loved road trips to the beach with her girlfriends, as well as visiting cousins who lived in Waldport. She enjoyed being surrounded by the beauty and peace of God’s creation along the Oregon coastline.
Karon’s greatest joy in her life was spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She loved them all deeply. Karon was a great cook and loved feeding people. Her kitchen was always full of food and love. She also enjoyed going to coffee, lunch and to the movies with her grandkids.
Karon’s faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior prompted her to become a prayer warrior. If Karon said she was going to pray for you, you could count on the fact that she would indeed lift your name up to our Heavenly Father.
A service celebrating Karon’s life will be held on 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2022, at Fir Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1070 West Main Street, Hillsboro, OR 97123. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Karon will be laid to rest at Fir Lawn Memorial Park.
