Forest Grove resident, Delpha Vera Whitlatch, 99, passed away peacefully Monday, May 15, 2023 at the Jennings McCall Center in Forest Grove.
Delpha was born January 12, 1924 to Timothy E. & Myrtle L. (Dryer) Crew in Swain, Newton County, Arkansas. She attended school until the 11th grade. Delpha and her husband Marion moved to Cornelius, OR in 1951, moving to Cherry Grove, OR in 1977, Gaston, OR in 1993 and to Forest Grove, OR in 2017.
Delpha enjoyed alteration of clothing, crafts, gardening, cooking, garage sales, canning food and family gatherings.
Delpha was well known for her large family gatherings. She especially liked making Mexican food. Home made everything. Her Thanksgiving meals could never be duplicated as far as tasting delicious. Delpha made every yard she owned beautiful with all kinds of plants, taking very good care of her plants. She would offer you anything she thought you might need. The inside of her house was always clean and tidy. Delpha loved being a snow-bird, going to Tecopa, CA for the winter in their RV for many years and getting to see friends. She never let chronic back pain and other elements stop her from doing hard work and the things she loved to do.
Delpha was preceded in death by her husband Marion Whitlatch; and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Turney of Gaston, OR and Paula Van De Walle of Hillsboro, OR; son, Michael Whitlatch of Hillsboro, OR; grandsons, Brian and Jason Turney both of Gaston, OR, Eric Van De Walle of Seattle, WA, Jeff Van De Walle of Hillsboro, OR, Jeremy Whitlatch of San Francisco, CA and Walter Whitlatch of Hillsboro, OR; granddaughters, Sara Golsan of Tualatin, OR, Keri Motley of Boise, ID, Carla Luekenga of Meridian, ID and Amy Roundy of Rexburg, ID; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. , Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Fir Lawn Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Marion. Pallbearers will include, Jeff Van De Walle, Brian Turney, Charlie Golsan, William Golsan, Mason Motley, and Hunter Motley. A celebration of her life will immediately follow the services with family and friends.
