    Martha Willene "Willy" Blackstone

    March 21, 1927 - March 28, 2012

Martha Willene Denney Blackstone, 85, of Hillsboro, known as "Willy" by her friends and family, died March 28, 2012 at Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro of natural causes. Graveside Services and Interment will be held Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon with Pastor Rich Jones officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11:00 am at Calvary Chapel Worship Center, 6550 SE Alexander Street, in Hillsboro with Pastor Rich Jones officiating. Martha Willene Denney Blackstone was born March 21, 1927 in Amarillo, Texas to Bill and Bessie Welch Denney. She was raised and educated in East LA, California where she graduated from Garfield High School in 1945. It was at school that she met the man she wanted to spend her life with. Willy was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" N. Blackstone Jr. on February 1, 1946 in East L.A., California. They celebrated sixty-three years of life together and raised two sons before he preceded her in death in June 2010. She was a busy wife and homemaker. They made their home in East LA. Willy began working as a secretary for the licensing department in Pico Rivera, California. In 1989 the family moved to the Tualatin area where Willy worked for Tektronix for seven years. In 2001 back to Crooked River Ranch, 2006 to Cottage Grove and finally back to Hillsboro in 2009 to be near the family. Among her personal interests she enjoyed playing golf; she also loved to go shopping. Willy liked to keep up with the latest fashion trends in cosmetics and jewelry. She loved to go on cruises and Ted would surprise her by making plans to take her to places like Mexico, Alaska, to the Holy Land, Hawaii and to the Mediterranean. Willy's greatest joy was spending time with her family. Survivors include two sons and daughters in law; Dan and Nancy Blackstone of Hillsboro, Oregon, Len and Deb Blackstone of Cottage Grove, Oregon, a sister and brother in law; Pat and Bill Culp of Crooked River. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Sean Blackstone, Regina Blackstone, Candice Blackstone, and Aislinn Blackstone. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to your favorite charity in Willy's Memory.
