Our beloved mother, Etha L. Morris Bartholomew (97) passed away Monday, June 6, 2022 in Aloha, Oregon. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 17th at 2:00 p.m. at the Reedville Presbyterian Church, 2785 SW 209th Ave, Aloha, OR. Etha was born to Frank and Isola Morris December 9, 1924 in Strathmore, California. Growing up Etha lived in California then the family moved to Keasey, Oregon in the early 1930’s where she graduated from Vernonia high school in 1942. Etha attended Oregon State University and University of Oregon Medical School Department of Nursing Education. After Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, she joined the United States Cadet Nurse Corp. She received her B.S.N degree with a major in Nursing Education June 8, 1947. In 1947 Etha was introduced to Charles Bartholomew and they were married on July 15, 1950 at the First Baptist church in Portland, Oregon. They settled down and purchased their first home in Aloha, Oregon where she lived until 2022. From 1947 to 1963 Etha worked at the Tuberculous Hospital. She then worked as a nurse at Physicians and Surgeons in Portland, Oregon for 30 years. Etha was an avid gardener and was famous for her canned goods, especially pickled beets. She also enjoyed rock hounding with friends and family, vacations to visit family, reading and singing. Her faith was very important to Etha. She attended Reedville Presbyterian Church for over 65years where she held many positions and was involved in activities including the Annual Mother Daughter Banquet, the Annual Bazaar and delivering meals to the needy. Etha is preceded by her husband Charles Bartholomew. Survivors include their four children, Craig (Jean) Bartholomew, Bruce (Annie) Bartholomew, Julie (Boyet) Quiroz and Diane (Phillip) Hurner; nine grandchildren, Brian Butler, Michelle Bartholomew, Joe Bartholomew, Russell Butler, James Bartholomew, Rosie Resurreccion, Tamika Cortez, Paige Hurner and Nathan Hurner; nine great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Etha lived and faced life with a laugh, a smile and a song in her heart that touched young and old alike. She believed her purpose in life was to always help others!
