Andrew Laverne Otting
August 6, 1964 - April 17, 2022
Andrew LaVerne Otting passed away surrounded by loving family on April 17, 2022. He was born August 6, 1964. His friends and family have great faith that he is now surrounded by loved ones, big trucks, loud music, and many dogs and cats who also love him and remember him. Andy’s passions were strong and varied. He was that high schooler who took apart and put together a motorcycle on his own; he was the adult whose career in social services was to nurture and help others who could not help themselves. He grew up in Oregon, and his love of the outdoors led him to spend many days camping, hunting and fishing. He was an enthusiastic basketball and baseball player in his hometown of Klamath Falls. His degree in Accounting served him well throughout his life. Andy had a humorous way of looking at life; he was patient and understanding of people’s personalities and differences. If Andy asked, “How are you?” it was understood that he wanted a real answer, and that he would truly listen. It was a wonderful attribute. Andy was with the love of his life, Cheryl, for 18 years. He was a caring, affectionate father to their daughters Erin and Katie, then a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren and great grandchild. He and his wife Cheryl hosted many warm family gatherings, barbecues and holidays together. They strengthened and took care of each other in so many ways. Andy is survived by a large and loving family who will miss his humor, compassion and enthusiasm. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Otting, daughters Katie Cain and Erin Sinclair, and grandchildren Shayla Coronado, Ashley Coronado, Dominique Taylor, Hailey Coronado, Teona Taylor and Malik Rogers as well as great-grandchild Alejandro Rogers. Also by his loving siblings Nick Otting (Mary Bartholemy), Jessica Otting Petrofski, Leigh Otting (Dan Sloop), as well as his nieces and nephews in Spokane: Ian and John Petrofski, and Portland: Oscar and Sterling Sloop.
