    Alyce Harper

    April 20, 1916 - April 11, 2012

    Alyce, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and teacher to scores of Oregon children. passed away in Portland on April 11, 2012 at age 95. Born in Hillsboro to John Thomas and Marguerita Callahan, Alyce graduated from Monmouth College n 1937 and married J. W. Harper in 1938. She spent 42 years teaching in Oregon, finishing at Farmington View Elementary in Hillsboro and retiring in 1981. She was a life member of Hillsboro Eastern Star. Alyce, a devoted mother, cared deeply for all of her family. She enjoyed bringing everyone together for Christmas and Callahan picnics. She is survived by her sons, Jim and Ben; sister Thelma McKinley; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. Her daughter Joyce Harper preceded her in death in 1993. Services and reception at 2:00 P. M. Saturday May 5th at the the Real Life Christian Church, 423 N. 10th St. in Cornelius Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
